How Much Desonide Ointment to Apply
The term "fingertip unit" is used by dermatologists to measure the amount of ointment or cream to apply on an affected area.  A fingertip unit of cream or ointment is the amount you squeeze out of the tube onto the tip segment of your finger.

1 hand = 1 fingertip unit
1 arm = 3 fingertip units
1 foot = 2 fingertip units
1 leg = 6 fingertip units
face and neck = 2.5 fingertip units
front and back of torso = 14 fingertip units
whole body: 40 units
