Desonide Cream, Ointment, or Lotion?

Which form of desonide is right for you?

Use desonide cream or gel if you have oily skin for better absorption.  Some people cannot stand grease on their skin, and as such prefer creams to ointments.   Use desonide ointment for areas that require stronger medication or protection. This is because ointment stays better on skin.  Use ointment on areas that tend to get in contact with other parts of the body or with objects.  Another reason for choosing the ointment form is that  it provides better moisturization, which is important with skin conditions such as eczema.   On hairy areas of the body, desonide lotion or gel is more easily absorbed.
Please note that these are general guidelines and that, ultimately, the form of desonide to use will depend on the type and severity of your skin condition.  Please consult your dermatologist.
